Most people like to dance. Some people need to "loosen up" before they can dance. So, they drink some alcohol, and BOOM! They are ready. This is why the Bar has a Dance Floor. Booze & Beats go hand in hand.
Loosening up not only makes the drinker more likely to dance and generally have a good time, it will also more likely than not make him or her more confident in interacting with Potential Sexual Partners.
EVERYONE enjoys sex. Dancing usually involves provocative gyrations that arouse a desire to fornicate. Even if one does not enjoy dancing, this truth can help bring them out on the dance floor, especially with the help of our friend alcohol.
The main goal in a night out to the club is to have sex, at some time or another, whether it’s with a current partner or with someone brand new. It is the number one reason why men go to the club. They are not interested in the music or dancing to it, but know that women are and “put on the show” to attract their sexual attention.
According to this poll, 64% of women go to the club to “meet men” which, even if they don’t want it tonight, means they want Future Sex. 21% want to see what happens, which indicates they are game for sex tonight, but also ready for a variety of possible adventures the night may have in store. 12% go for fun, which could also lead to sex, but could also mean a night of strictly drinking and / or dancing. The remaining 3% are with their boyfriend or on a date, which again could also lead to sex or just be a night to drink, dance, and socialize.
Dancing and drinking are catalysts for making sex attainable, while doubling as innocent and fun ways to spend time.
Reasons to Go to the Club
1. Sex, either at The Club, later that night, or any point in the future
2. Dancing, either to achieve [1], or to have a good time
3. Social Interaction, for a variety of reasons including but not necessarily limited to 1 & 2
4. Drinking, usually to boost confidence and to attain the above
The music at the club is not very complex, so that it is easy for everyone to dance and have a good time. The lyrical themes generally tend to revolve around sex, dancing, alcohol, consumption, attraction, love, lust, drugs, partying, ego, confidence, money, and material possessions. The rhythm is very straightforward, and designed to allow even the least capable dancer to gyrate provocatively. The hooks are catchy and memorable, whether they are sung or spoken. The songs are short, melodically predictable, and sound good.
This is Pop Music. According to Simon Frith, Pop Music is produced “as a matter of enterprise, not art”, “is designed to appeal to everyone”, and “doesn't come from any particular place or mark off any particular taste.” It is “not driven by any significant ambition except profit and commercial reward... and, in musical terms, it is essentially conservative.” It is “provided from on high (by record companies, radio programmers and concert promoters) rather than being made from below... Pop is not a do-it-yourself music but is professionally produced and packaged.”
I agree on every point other than that “Pop is not a do-it-yourself music”. Today, it is easier than ever to make pop music yourself. With a computer, a microphone, any of a number of easily-accessible and logically-and-intuitively-
There is nothing wrong with any of this. EVERYONE enjoys sex. Sex sells.
